He has presented his collections at the Tokyo Collection and other shows as a designer of knitted fabric with his own knitted fabric brand "Motohiro Tanji". After that, he started creating art pieces that make use of original knitted textures. He pursues complex, three-dimensional representations of what are called "knit sculptures" that can only be done with knitted fabric.
After graduating from Keio University, finished summa cum laude MA Fashion Knitwear Design, Nottingham Trent University.
2012 Established his own knit brand, Motohiro Tanji.
2013 Selected in the professional category at the Tokyo New Designer Fashion Grand Prix.
2015 Participated in Tokyo Fashion Week from 2015 / 16AW.
2015 Opened knit class Motohiro Tanji Texture Creation.
2016 Selected as the Japanese representative for the International Woolmark Prize.
2018 Began art activities.
2018 Awarded bronze prize in the sculpture section of the Salon des Beaux-Arts exhibition in Paris.
2019 Selected as the Japanese representative for Independent boat 2019 art exhibition, sponsored by Tagboat.
