TAGBOAT ART FAIR

<Regarding TDW ART FAIR>

The season of the yearly Tokyo Designers Week is coming up soon. As a world renowned event that gathers many innovative Asian art, design, architecture, and music, this year's Tokyo Designers Week would host over 120,000 visitors, a new record in TDW's history.

The theme of this year's TDW Art Fair is "the Power of Art". I hope, in responding to the record-breaking-120,000-visitor, this year's artists would present us equally powerful and stunning works of art. Although it is the third year that TAGBOAT participates in TDW, I can still feel every artist's strong yearnings for originality and uniqueness in their works of art. The power of art has exerted strong influence on the design, architecture, music, and many other creative fields. I believe that the power of art will continue and one day change the culture of Japan.

Starting from this year, Asia Art Award will be held in the same location. I hope every participating artist, while taking the art fair as an opportunity to communicate with other artists from Asia, would challenge the 120,000 visitors with your unique visual languages.

Past participants

Jiangyang WANG

I am Jianyang Wang, an artist from Taiwan. The first time I learned about TDW ART FAIR was from the facebook event page. I had long been hoping to show my works in Japan and was glad to find out that most judges of the TDW ART FAIR were directors of major galleries in Japan. Hoping some of the judges and also the Japanese audience would like my works, I participated in the art fair along with a few of my friends. In the end, I was more than thrilled to see that Japanese visitors truly appreciated and enjoyed my works of art. Moreover, I felt truly grateful and encouraged to receive the TDW ART FAIR Award from Mr. Hiroya Tsubakihara. Even after the fair ended, I had met Mr. Hiroya Tsubakihara a few times in Taiwan and also had the opportunity to visit Gallery Tsubaki in person. I felt very fortunate that I would be able to hold my solo exhibition at Gallery Tsubaki in 2015 and truly wish everyone would like my works and the exhibition.
