Biography / Exhibition / Publication

Born 1972 in Tokyo. Ninagawa is one of the most talked about young photographers. Graduated from Faculty of Graphic Design at Tama Art University, she started exhibiting her photos while still a student and won numerous awards including the 4th 'Shahin Hito-tsubo' exhibition award and the 26th Kimura Ihei Award in 2001. Participation in major exhibitions include 'New Artists of Japan; On the Subject of Happiness/ Acid Bloom' (Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography) and 'KEEP IN TOUCH.' POSITIONS IN JAPANESE PHOTOGRAPHY' (Kunsthaus Graz, Austria). Solo exhibition include 'mika over the rainbow' (LAFORET MUSEUM HARAJUKU, then toured in Japan) and 'Liquid Dreams' (Parco Museum). With bold composition and bright colors, she has a wide fan base including among the young generation.
