“目の前の景色の中に身をゆだねていくと、ほんの少しの光の変化で世界が色を変えていくのがわかる”

四角く切り取られた写真の中のいくつかの景色は、アトリエの中で私の記憶を呼び起こし、旅した場所へと再訪させてくれます。
それは旅の中で出会った風景、写真という媒体となった風景、私自身に気憶されている風景。
この三者の間を行き来することで浮かび上がってきた風景は、もう特定の場所を示すことが出来ない。
「どこでもないどこか」であり、
キャンバスに浮かび上がるこの風景こそが、私の描きだす絵画となる。

Some of the landscapes in the photographs cutting into squares, evoke my memories in my studio and make me revisit the places I have travelled.
They are landscapes that I have encountered in my travels, that have become a photographic medium, and that are remembered by me. The landscape that emerges from this back and forth between the three is no longer able to point to a specific place.
It is "nowhere, somewhere".
The scenery that emerges on the canvas becomes my painting.

Profile

1979年長野県生まれ。
2003年日本大学芸術学部美術学科絵画コース卒業後、渡英。Byam Shaw School of Art London在籍/修了。

ロンドンで幅広くアートを学び、帰国後も油絵・平面の可能性を広げながら、自然界の花や草木が作りだす独自の空間に魅了された作品を描き続ける。近年は、自然に対し「どのように見るか」視点を変えることで、描きだされるものが見せる表情の違いを追い求め制作している。
2016年からは、自ら「EnoR (エノアール)」の屋号で会社を設立し、活躍の場を広げている。

風景に、私は魅かれる。それは時代による変化を伴いつつも、この世界でずっと繋がっている神秘、偉大さであり、時間を繋ぎ、人を繋ぐ大きな存在であるから。そして一枚の絵も、そういう存在になり得るのではないだろうか、なりたいと思う気持ちが制作へと向かわせる。受け継がれていくものの一つとして、遺る作品を生みだしたい。

Profile

Kumiko Tamura's paintings are done on square canvasses with depths of 7-10 cm, with a picture composition wherein scenes of city or nature are split in two parts by the horizon.
Because the landscape is drawn to the side of the canvas, it appears three-dimensionally.
Kumiko Tamura's "Painting" that exists as a solid body even while being planar gives an atmosphere to the painting that has a sense of giving depth to the art on folding screens done in the past.
In addition, at the same time as creating three-dimensional paintings with visually unbroken views, her paintings have a horizon that spreads beyond the canvas.

Kumiko Tamura's works will fit nicely into any interior, so they continue to be as popular as ever.
As one of the artists that can secure a firm position in the art market, it is not hard to imagine that her valuation will continue to become higher.
