I started painting by freely dripping paint onto the canvas without deciding on a specific form in advance. As I moved my hands while surrendering to unpredictable coincidences, the shape of coral suddenly emerged on the surface.
Shortly before creating this work, my child had the opportunity to touch coral, and I participated in it alongside them. The fresh sense of surprise and the memory of that texture may have lingered somewhere deep in my heart.
While cherishing the stains and shapes of the paint created by the dripping process, I gradually added brushstrokes to complete this piece. I would be happy if you could experience the moment where the fascinating qualities of nature intersect with the texture of oil paint.
