Jin Hashimoto
橋本仁の東京藝術大学の修了作品展では東京都知事賞を受賞し、鉄で鍛造された作品は上野恩賜公園に設置された。大学院に進学後も安宅賞を受賞するなど、その活躍にはめざましいものがある。
素晴らしい経歴を持つ橋本仁ではあるが、それまでの作品は販売を目的としていなかったこともあるが売れることはなかった。 彼との最初の出会いは2016年の第11回タグボートアワードであり、その時の木をくり抜いて作った作品は応募者300名超えの中からみごとにグランプリを獲得した。
副賞で台湾のコマーシャルギャラリーで展覧会を開催したのであるが、その際に彼の曾祖父の時代に台湾に疎開していた歴史から、橋本は自らのルーツを探す旅を始めたのである。
2017年の前半に台湾の高雄市でのアーティスト・レジデンスプログラムに参加することにチャレンジし現地のアーティストと数多く接する機会を得た。
そこからは水を得た魚のように彼の作品は大きく変わっていき、2017年6月に台北のG.Galleryで展覧会の開催と同時期に、タグボートの主催イベント「Indepedent台北」でも百名上の参加者を抑えてまたまたグランプリを獲得した。これによって次は秋のニューヨークでの展覧会の機会を得たのである。
Independent台北で出品した作品は彼のルーツとなる台北での古い家族写真をベースにした木彫りの作品などであり、コンセプチュアルであり且つ技巧的な作品は他を圧倒した。しかも現地のコレクターが全てを買い取りしてくれたのである。
まさに台湾を出発点としてサクセスストーリーを歩み始めた橋本仁。
これからの素晴らしい活躍が期待できるのは間違いないであろう。
Hashimoto Jin's Tokyo National University of Fine Arts Graduation Exhibition received the Tokyo Governor Award, and the work forged in iron was placed at Ueno Park.He has a remarkable track record such as winning the Hakuzaki Prize after going to graduate school.
Hashimoto Jin has a wonderful career, but until then his work wasn't sold because this wasn't his aim. My first encounter with him was at the 11th TAGBOAT awards in 2016, and the exceptional work he made by hollowing out a tree won the First Prize beating over 300 candidates at the time.
Having held an exhibition at the commercial gallery in Taiwan with an extra prize, Hashimoto started a journey to find his own roots, since he'd heard his great grand-father had been evacuated from that country.
In the first half of 2017, he got the chance to participate in an artist · residency program in the Kaohsiung city of Taiwan and had opportunity to get in touch with numerous local artists.
From there, his work changed drastically like a fish that gets water, and at the same time that he was holding an exhibition at Taipei's G. Gallery in June 2017, he once again won a First Prize at ''Independent Taipei which was hosted by Tugboat and had a hundred participants.This gave him the opportunity to be part of an exhibition in New York the following fall.
The work that was exhibited at Independent Taipei is a work of wood carving based on old family photographs in Taipei, where his roots are, and the conceptual and polished work clearly surpassed the others.In addition, local collectors purchased all the exhibits.
Hashimoto Jin started living his Cinderella story from Taiwan. There is no doubt that you can expect him to be incredibly successful in the future.
