アメリカ出身のグラフィティアーティスト。1970年代はニューヨークのサブウェイ(地下鉄)で主に活躍。
彼のグラフィティは、ただのタグ系グラフィティではなく、抽象的で、センスの強いカラフルな作品を中心に描いていた。
そのころからグラフィティはメインストリームアートコミュニティーに認められはじめ、徐々に市民権を得るようになった。
彼も、80年代前半にFUN Galleryで作品を展示したことなどからアート界でも人気を獲得した。
90年代からは、GFSやSubware、Project Dragonなどのアパレルブランドとコラボレーションや、アートトイの制作、スニーカーデザインなど様々な分野で活躍している。

Leonard Hilton McGurr (born November 17, 1955), known as Futura, and formerly known as Futura 2000,[1] is an American artist.[2]

Futura began painting graffiti as a teenager in the 1970s in New York and crossed over into the early 1980s art boom.[3][4][5] Known for his distinctive style, a fusion of graffiti and abstract expressionism, Futura painted backdrops live on-stage for British punk rock band The Clash's Combat Rock tour. More recently, he is a successful graphic designer and gallery artist.
