大城夏紀
Natsuki Oshiro
早稲田大学を卒業後、阿佐ヶ谷美術専門学校と東京造形大学大学院にて美術を本格的に学んだ、異色の経歴を持つ大城夏紀。
工業製品や記号的なイメージを色面に置き換えることを通し、ものと、ものに付随する意味との距離感や関係性を提示する作品を制作している。
一見フラットに絵具を置いているように見えるが、下地の色を受けあるいは周りの色と共鳴し合う事で、何色とは言いがたい不思議な発色を持って存在感を放ち、独特な奥行きを生み出す。
大学院修了直後からその才能は公募展を通じてすぐに評価されるようになる。
2014年に三菱商事アートゲート・プログラム入選、2015年にワンダーシード2015入選、2017年にシェル美術賞2017入選、第26回ホルベイン・スカラシップ奨学生認定など、若手の登竜門とも言える所ばかりだ。
芯の通った世界観があり、またその美術的価値に期待ができる内容を持った作品である事が、この評価につながっていると言っていいだろう。
現在も精力的に展覧会も開催し、2018年にはシェル美術賞レジデンス支援プログラムに選出されるなど、作家としてのキャリアを重ねており、今後益々の活躍が楽しみな作家だ。
これからの未知なる成長性に期待しながら作品鑑賞を楽しむ、これこそコレクター冥利に尽きる贅沢な時間と言えるかもしれない。
Natsuki Oshiro has the unique background of studying art in earnest at the Asagaya College of Art and Design and Tokyo Zokei University Graduate School after graduating from Waseda University.
Through replacing industrial products and symbolic images with colored surfaces, she produces works that represent the distance and the relationships of things and the meaning attached to those things.
At first sight, it looks like flat paint has been placed in her works, but by receiving, or resonating the colors of the base with the surrounding colors, they emit a sense of presence and unique depth with a mysterious coloring using colors that cannot be described.
Immediately after completing graduate school, her talent was evaluated through public exhibition.
She has grasped the gateway to success as a young person; she was chosen for the Mitsubishi Corporation Art Gate Program in 2014, won the Wonder Seed 2015 in 2015, and was recognized as the 26th Holbein Scholarship Student.
She has a consistent world view, and it is safe to say that this valuation is because that she has artwork that has contents of which artistic value can be counted on.
Even now, she vigorously holds exhibitions, and has a career as an artist, and is an artist whose future can be anticipated.
From here, enjoying appreciation of works while expecting growth that is yet unknown, can be said to be a luxurious time that can be used by a collector's favor.
