フリードリッヒ・クナス(1974年、旧東ドイツ・ケムニッツ生まれ)は、現在ロサンゼルスを拠点に活動するヴィジュアルアーティストである。ペインティング、ドローイング、立体、写真、映像など多様なメディアを横断し、緻密な視覚言語を駆使して制作を行っている。人生の浮き沈みに対する鋭い洞察を作品に反映させることで、記憶や愛、そして生の多様な在り方を探求し、集合意識に触れる感情豊かな表現を生み出している。

展覧会活動も国際的に広く展開しており、個展には Kunsthalle Bremerhaven(2014年)、Centre d’art contemporain d’Ivry(2014年)、Oxford Museum of Modern Art(2013年)、Schinkel Pavillon(2011年)、Sprengel Museum(2012年)、Hammer Museum(ロサンゼルス/2010年)、Kunstverein Hannover(2009年)、Kunsthalle Baden-Baden(2009年)、Aspen Art Museum(2008年)などが含まれる。

Friedrich Kunath (born 1974 in Chemnitz, former East Germany) is a visual artist currently based in Los Angeles. Working across a variety of media, including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, and video, he creates works that utilize a precise visual language. Reflecting his keen insight into the ups and downs of life, he explores memory, love, and the diverse ways of being, creating emotive expressions that touch on the collective consciousness.

He has exhibited widely internationally, with solo exhibitions at venues including Kunsthalle Bremerhaven (2014), Centre d'art contemporain d'Ivry (2014), Oxford Museum of Modern Art (2013), Schinkel Pavillon (2011), Sprengel Museum (2012), Hammer Museum (Los Angeles/2010), Kunstverein Hannover (2009), Kunsthalle Baden-Baden (2009), and Aspen Art Museum (2008).
