1983年和歌山県生まれ。仏教、自然崇拝など、様々な「信じる」が融合した、和歌山県「熊野」の地で幼少期を過ごす。拠点を東京に移し、2010年に東京造形大学美術学科卒業、2012年に東京造形大学大学院(修士課程)修了。現在は千葉県在住。
国内外のギャラリーを中心に個展、グループ展等で作品を発表。
子供をあつかった絵画作品を主に制作。日本独自の感覚や、象徴的な形を取り入れるなどし、絵画、写真、版画、インスタレーション等、様々な媒体での表現をおこなう。また作品には「子供」意外に「仮面」「鏡」「衣装」「文様」等をたびたび利用する特徴がみられる。
アーティスト活動と並行し、2012年にクリエイティブユニット「S+N laboratory」を結成。S+N laboratoryではワークショップを中心とした活動をはじめ、プロジェクト、コラボレーション、美術協力・絵画教室などの美術指導等、多岐にわたる活動を行う。
Profile
Born in Wakayama. She spent her childhood in "Kumano," Wakayama prefecture, and spent years there - a place where various forms of "believe," such as Buddhism and nature-worship, fuse together. Then, Sakaki moved her base of life to Tokyo; she graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Tokyo Zokei University in 2010, and completed postgraduate studies (M.F.A) at the university in 2012. Currently living in Chiba
She had solo or group exhibitions mainly at domestic and overseas galleries.
Paintings with a theme of children are a main feature of her career:
She use a sense or symbolic form particular to Japan to try various expressive media of art, from painting, photograph, print, and installation work.
And, besides "children," her work is characteristic in often using "mask," "mirror," "clothes," and "pattern" as a subject matter.
She formed a creative unit called "S+N laboratory (Kimi Sakaki + Masashi Nishizono) " in 2012. Activities of the unit vary from workshops to projects, collaborations, art supports, and art school
