点描画のような明るい色彩と色の重なりによってできる闇、そして一見可愛らしい人物や美しい室内、閑静な風景などに潜む不在感により「明るいけれどどこか暗い、可愛いのにちょっと怖い」といった両義的なイメージを感じ取っていただけると思います。鉛筆によるグラデーションでモノクロの版をシアン用、イエロー用、マゼンダ用というように色ごとに数枚描き、それを版にしてリソグラフで刷るという珍しい方法で作品を制作しています。

Profile

イラストレーターとして数多くの書籍の装画を手掛けてきましたが、近年は油彩やリソグラフなどのアート作品を主に制作。
全ての物事は相反する2つの側面を持っていて、私たちは常にその両面の間をバランスをとりながら綱渡りのように生きていると考えています。そんな日々の小さな緊張感を、明るい色彩とありふれたモチーフとは裏腹な、どこか奇妙で不穏な情景によって表現しています。
武蔵野美術大学造形学部工芸工業デザイン学科卒。

Profile

As an illustrator, Mayumi Tsuzuki has done numerous book cover illustrations, but in recent years, she has been working mainly with oil paintings, risographs, and other art forms.
She believes that everything has two opposing sides, and feels that people are always walking a tightrope, balancing between the two sides. She expresses such small daily tensions by means of somewhat strange and disturbing scenes, which are contrary to bright colors and commonplace motifs.
Graduated from Musashino Art University, Department of Crafts and Industrial Design.
