人物、建物、植物など身の回りにある日常的な物事をモチーフにして、日常からこぼれ落ちる感情や記憶を描いています。
常に作品の根底にあるテーマは両義性です。
「明るい柔らかな色彩とそこはかとない暗さ」や「日常と非日常」といった両義的なイメージを作品の中に共存させています。
それにより、あらゆるものが持っている相反する2つの側面の存在を認めながら、その狭間で上手くバランスをとって生きている私達の、日々の小さな緊張感のようなものを表現しています。

Using motifs of people, buildings, plants, and other everyday objects around us, I depict the emotions and memories that spill over from the everyday.
The underlying theme of my work has always been ambiguity.
In my works, ambivalent images such as "bright and soft colors with a hint of darkness" and "the everyday and the extraordinary" coexist in my paintings.

Profile

イラストレーターとして数多くの書籍の装画を手掛けてきましたが、近年は油彩やリソグラフなどのアート作品を主に制作。
全ての物事は相反する2つの側面を持っていて、私たちは常にその両面の間をバランスをとりながら綱渡りのように生きていると考えています。そんな日々の小さな緊張感を、明るい色彩とありふれたモチーフとは裏腹な、どこか奇妙で不穏な情景によって表現しています。
武蔵野美術大学造形学部工芸工業デザイン学科卒。

Profile

As an illustrator, Mayumi Tsuzuki has done numerous book cover illustrations, but in recent years, she has been working mainly with oil paintings, risographs, and other art forms.
She believes that everything has two opposing sides, and feels that people are always walking a tightrope, balancing between the two sides. She expresses such small daily tensions by means of somewhat strange and disturbing scenes, which are contrary to bright colors and commonplace motifs.
Graduated from Musashino Art University, Department of Crafts and Industrial Design.
