本作は、「モデル」という存在が理想的な美の体現者としてのみならず、消費社会における価値の再生産装置として機能している現代的状況に着目するものである。デジタル技術の発展とAIによる身体イメージの生成が進むなかで、「完璧さ」と「不完全さ」が同時に内包された像が無数に流通し、それらは私たちの欲望や規範を無自覚に反映・増幅し続けている。
本作における「モデル」は、鑑賞者の欲望を肯定するための存在として提示されている。しかしその肯定は、単なる承認ではない。むしろ、理想像に対する欲望の構造そのものを可視化し、鑑賞者自身の価値判断と対峙させる試みである。
「美」や「理想」を一方的に提示するのではなく、それを受容する主体のまなざしを問う契機として、このイメージは提示されている。

This work focuses on the contemporary situation in which the “model” functions not only as an embodiment of ideal beauty, but also as a reproduction device of value in a consumer society. With the development of digital technology and the creation of body images by AI, countless images that simultaneously contain “perfection” and “imperfection” are in circulation, and these images continue to reflect and amplify our desires and norms without our awareness.
The “model” in this work is presented as an entity that affirms the viewer's desire. However, this affirmation is not mere approval. Rather, it is an attempt to visualize the very structure of desire for an ideal image and to confront the viewer's own value judgments.
Rather than presenting “beauty” or “ideals” in a one-sided manner, this image is presented as an opportunity to question the gaze of the subject who accepts it.

Profile

AI の発達やメディアの多様化が続く現代における、人々のイメージ形成や認識をテーマとして、自身で撮影した写真、AI生成で作り出した図像を素材にしてデジタルイメージを作成し、それをエアブラシ等の描画材を使い手描きでパネル上に描画することで、絵画作品を制作している。
画面に共通して登場する身体像は、AI生成モデルから生成した身体図像を、作者によってコラージュ的に創意し作られたものである。 InstagramなどSNSによって、自らの身体や生活自体を商品化することが義務のようになっている現代、そこに存在する欲望や理想としての身体像をAIとともに思考することで、現実と仮想の境界にあるような今の人間の姿を模索している。

Profile

AIMI creates paintings by creating digital images from his own photographs and AI-generated images, and then hand-painting them on panels using airbrushes and other drawing materials. The common body image on the screen is the “body”.
The body images that commonly appear on screen are created by the artist in the form of collages of body images generated from AI-generated models. In this age when social networking services such as Instagram have made it an obligation to commercialize one's own body and life itself, the artist explores the current human figure that lies on the border between the real and the virtual by thinking about the desires that exist there and the body image as an ideal, together with the AI.
