Profile

1977年神戸生まれ。成安造形大学の卒業制作で、街の自動証明写真機で撮影した『ID400』が2000年、キヤノン写真新世紀特別賞を受賞。その後、お見合い写真の被写体になった『OMIAI♥』、ガングロギャルに扮した『cover』などの作品を発表。2004年、さまざまな職業人に扮した『Costume』とそれまでの活動が評価され、第29回木村伊兵衛写真賞を受賞。その作品は、日本だけにとどまらず、ニューヨーク、ロンドン、ベルギー、ウィーンなど、世界各国で展覧会が開催されている。

Tomoko Sawada (born 1977 in Kobe, Japan) is a Japanese contemporary feminist photographer and performance artist. She has been included in numerous group shows in Japan, Europe and the US. Her first solo exhibition was in 1997 at Japan's Gallery Chat. In 2004 she was awarded the prestigious Kimura Ihei Memorial Photography Award for Young Japanese Photographer as well as the International Center of Photography Infinity Award in the category of Young Photographer.
