<個展「Real」より>
「パラレルな私たち」というシリーズの中のひと作品。

「パラレル私」という作品では、異なるタッチで描かれた複数の乙女が一枚の中に存在します。年齢を重ねるごとに“新しい私”へ成長していくというより、むしろ「5歳の私」「20歳の私」「30歳の私」がすべて内側に積み重なっていくような感覚を表現しています。
現代ではSNSを通して人格が分岐し、「推し活アカウント」「仕事用」「子育て用」など、複数の“私”を同時に生きる時代になりました。XやThreadsのようなテキスト中心のSNSでは、年齢や立場の境界がより曖昧になり、アカウントごとにまったく異なる人生を送っているようにも感じます。
その現象が私たちの心やアイデンティティにどんな影響を与えているのか??その問いを、異なるタッチの乙女たちを通して描きました。

This work is part of the series "Parallel I"

In the artwork “Parallel I”, multiple girls, each drawn in a different artistic style, coexist within a single image. Rather than depicting the idea of growing into a “new me” with age, it expresses the feeling that my “five-year-old self,” “twenty-year-old self,” and “thirty-year-old self” all accumulate and coexist within me.
In today’s world, our personalities branch out through social media?we live as multiple versions of ourselves at once: a “fan account,” “work account,” or “parenting account,” for example. On text-based platforms like X or Threads, the boundaries of age and social roles become even blurrier, making it feel as though we’re living completely different lives through each account.
This artwork explores the question of how that phenomenon affects our hearts and identities, portrayed through the girls drawn in different styles.

Profile

Kana Arimura (born 1980 in Kagoshima, Japan) is an Japan painter.
She studied Design and Fine Art at Joshibi Unibersity (2008).

"I am exploring creating a world where "dreams and reality" are intertwined. Dreams, fantasy, madness, poisons, those that emerged in my head are real for me.
I draw girls and the world, life, death and everyday."

Kana Arimura has been winner of various awards, including Epson Color Imaging Contest Award 2007, and Graduation Works of Women's College of Art Female Art Collection Collection Award 2008, and jury special Award in the Act Art Award 2017.

Kana Arimura’s solo exhibitions include, ‘I will wake up from a dream someday’ (The Artcomplex Center of Tokyo, Tokyo, 2017), ‘Everyday Wonderland’ (Art Space Rashinban, Tokyo, 2014), and group exhibitions that include, ‘stella nova6’ (The Artcomplex Center of Tokyo, Tokyo, 2017), ‘Ueno Royal Museum Grand Prix Exhibition’ (The Ueno Royal Museum, Tokyo, 2017), ‘Pop Up GENTLEMAN’ (Hankyu MEN’S Osaka, Osaka, 2017), ‘Shibucul’ (Parco Museum, Tokyo, 2012).
