Soji Shimizu

清水総二

1983年三重県生まれ。
東京造形大学グラフィックデザイン専攻を中退後、筑波大学芸術専門学群卒業。
清水総二は、「ペインティング」や「展覧会」の形式や慣習、マナーに興味を持ち、それらを解体したり置き換えたりすることを実践し、自分が何を選択し、どのような態度やあり方をするのかを考えている。この興味をもとに、主にペインティングやオブジェ、テキスト、インスタレーションとして作品を展開する。
2018年よりドイツ、ベルリン在住。

Born in Mie, Japan in 1983. After leaving the graphic design major at the Tokyo Zokei University, Soji Shimizu received a BFA in art from the University of Tsukuba. Shimizu is interested in the forms, conventions, and manners of ‘painting’ and ‘exhibition’, and in the practice of deconstructing and replacing them, he considers what he choose to do and what his attitudes and ways of being is. He builds on this interest to develop his work primarily as paintings, photographs, objects, texts and installations. He lives and works in Berlin since 2018.
