穴の先、コルドバ(猫の手、暖かさの拝借) Small Hole, to Córdoba (Cat's Paw, Borrowing Warmth)

2013年に行ったコルドバは、蜃気楼が見えるほどに暑くて、手足が常に強い日差しに照らされ暖められていました。暑かったけれど、気持ち良くもありました。

猫は暖かい場所が好きで、湯気が出そうなくらい体を暖めていることもしばしば。ポカポカに温まった手を握ると、わたしはコルドバの暑さを思い出します。彼らは家から出たことがなく、一生家の中で過ごします。しかし、あの感覚を知っているのではないかと想像したくなります。

When I went to Córdoba in 2013, it was so hot that I could see mirages, and my hands and feet were constantly warmed by the intense sun. It was hot but comfortable.

Cats like warm places and often warm their bodies to the point of almost releasing steam. When I hold their warm hands, I am reminded of the heat in Córdoba. My cats have never been out of the house and will always stay inside. But I like to think that they know this feeling.

Profile

人間の影響を受けて変化していく生き物たちを描くことで、自分達が抱える問題を客観的にみることはできないか。また、言葉を持たないそれらの生き物の情動を探る時のように、多様な価値観を持って議論し、問題と向き合うことはできないか。そのような問いかけを、糾弾ではない方法で行うことを自身の制作の課題としています。

Profile

By depicting creatures that are changing under the influence of humans, I aim to look objectively at the issues human society faces. And I want to discuss and confront them with diverse values, just as when exploring the emotions of these creatures without languages. The challenge of my creation is to do so in a way that is not a rebuke of society's problems, with allegorical elements.
