友成哲郎の《IDOL》シリーズは、現代社会における「偶像(アイドル)」の存在を主題に、光を浴びる人物の内面に潜む孤独や緊張、そして消費される存在としての脆さを描いている。
本作では、フェルメール《真珠の耳飾りの少女》を想起させる静かな眼差しを通して、観ること/見られることの関係性に焦点を当て、祝祭性の背後にある沈黙と距離感を浮かび上がらせている。
黒を基調とした画面と繊細な筆致によって、現代のアイドル像を一過性の流行ではなく、時代を映す象徴として再構築している。

Tetsuro Tomonari’s IDOL series examines the figure of the “idol” as a contemporary icon, portraying the loneliness, tension, and fragility that lie beneath individuals illuminated by attention and consumed by society.
In this work, the quiet gaze reminiscent of Girl with a Pearl Earring shifts the focus toward the relationship between seeing and being seen, bringing forward a sense of silence and distance that exists behind moments of apparent celebration.
Through a dark-toned surface and delicate brushwork, Tomonari reconstructs the modern idol not as a fleeting trend, but as a symbol that reflects the spirit of its time.
