アンリ・ルソーが1907年に制作された「蛇使いの女」を引用し独自に解釈した作品である。
月光に照らされた密林の中、蛇を首に巻き笛を吹く女性の姿。
月の光はこの密林の中で夜であるはずなのにとても明るい。白夜のような印象を大切にした。
私はこの作品を通して、月光に照らされているはずの女性の姿が、輪郭と光る目しか捉えることが出来ない様子を描くことを試みた。

暗闇に光る宝石をつくる感覚が私の制作においてとても重要であるが、今回の作品では明るい中の暗さ、そしてその中に潜む光を捉えることを意識した。
